How to play

  • Letters fall from the top: press a letter's key to make it disappear.
  • A letter that reaches the ground costs a life. You have three.
  • Every fifteen letters, the level goes up and the letters fall faster.

Start with the home row, where your fingers rest, then switch to all letters. Turn on the on-screen keyboard to see which key to press, and try to find it without looking at your hands.

Lessons

For children and beginners

Letter rain is the first game to play when you learn to type: one key at a time, nothing to read. A child who knows the letters can play it before reading whole words. The on-screen keyboard is on at the start; switch it off once you know where the keys are.

Scoring

Each letter is worth the level number: at level 4, every letter caught earns 4 points. All letters uses the three rows of letters: top, home and bottom. Your best score is kept in your browser, for each language.

A good routine

Play a few minutes on the home row before your first lessons. When you can catch the letters without looking, switch to all letters, then move on to Falling words.
