Ten minutes a day is enough to make real progress, as long as you practise every day and in the right order.
The routine
- Warm-up, 1 minute. Place your fingers on the home row, then type a few easy words slowly, without looking.
- One lesson, 3 minutes. Continue the course where you stopped. Do not skip ahead: each lesson builds on the last.
- Weak keys, 4 minutes. Open the adaptive practice. It gives you more of the keys you find hardest.
- Short test, 2 minutes. Finish with a one-minute test, once or twice. Note the result, but do not chase it.
Each week
- When a lesson feels easy, move on; when your accuracy drops below 95%, slow down.
- Once a week, take a five-minute test to see the speed you can hold.
- Swap the test for a game now and then: it is still practice.
Tips that help
- Practise at the same time every day, so it becomes a habit.
- Stop while you are still fresh: tired fingers make mistakes that stick.
- Keep your eyes on the screen, even when it feels slower.
